We provide free solutions to NGOs, journalists, and people at risk to protect them against targeted cyber attacks. Visit the project in its new website: www.civilsphereproject.org.
CivilSphere is a project born in the Czech Technical University (CTU) in Prague. The project is a spin off of the Stratosphere IPS laboratory, dedicated to provide a free software tool that uses machine learning to detect cyber security threats. In this context CivilSphere was born.
We believe that NGOs' work is a critical asset for our society, protecting human rights and civil liberties. It is their critical work that makes them a highly valuable political target for a wide variety of powerful actors. The end result is a continuous flow of attacks and technical abuse. Usually struggling for financial support for their causes, how can they protect themselves? At the CTU University, we took a step forward to help them. Similarly, journalists and activists face similar struggles in terms of lacking resources and tools that may help them detect when they are attacked.
The goal of this project is to provide simple solutions for journalists, activists, and NGOs for detecting attacks in their devices using our network behavioral Intrusion Detection and Prevention System, Stratosphere IPS.
We believe we can make a difference by putting our knowledge at service of those who need it the most and cannot afford complex and expensive solutions.
Protection for Journalists
IS YOUR PHONE SAFE TO USE?
The Emergency VPN is a service that provides a free security analysis of your mobile device network traffic to determine if your phone is infected, under attack, or compromised. Once you connect to the Emergency VPN, our team will capture the network traffic generated from the device for a few days. We will thoroughly analyze the data received and determine if your phone is infected, or if there are any threats that you should be aware of.
CHECK SUSPICIOUS EMAILS
AFRAID TO OPEN THAT EMAIL?
Spear phishing attacks are one of the most effective ways of compromising a target. Attackers may craft emails that look like real legitimate emails. Even security professionals sometimes find hard to distinguish a real email from an email crafted by attackers. Our service allows anyone at risk to send us a copy of the suspicious email, and our team will check very fast if the email was an attack or not. Are you afraid of opening that email? Just email it to us.
Protection for NGOs
CLOUD-BASED MALWARE DETECTION
HOW HEALTHY IS YOUR NETWORK?
For NGOs we provide a cloud-based service where we run our machine learning algorithms to remotely detect the malicious behaviors of infected computers in the NGO’s network. The organizations should only install a small software on their networks to send the flows to analyze. These flows only contain metadata and are highly protected by the Czech Technical University in Prague by signing Non Disclosure Agreements (NDA).
