Veronica Valeros is a senior researcher and co-director of the Stratosphere Research Laboratory at the Czech Technical University in Prague. She has more than 10 years of experience in cybersecurity. She holds a master’s degree in computer science from FASTA University in Argentina and a master’s degree in intelligence and security studies from Liverpool John Moores University. She is currently pursuing a PhD at the Czech Technical University in Prague.

As co-director of Stratosphere, Veronica helps drive research and development projects, improve internal processes, and strengthen community engagement across the groups she works with. As a senior researcher, she studies cyber deception, bridging industry and academia to make intelligence collection through cyber deception more valuable and measurable.

Previously, she led research, development, and customer support for the Civilsphere project, which was dedicated to protecting civil society organizations and individuals at risk from targeted digital threats.

Veronica has presented her research at international conferences including Black Hat, EkoParty, Botconf, Virus Bulletin, and DeepSec. She is a co-founder of MatesLab, a hackerspace based in Argentina, and the Independent Fund for Women in Tech. She speaks English and Spanish.

Since 2018, she has taught the Advanced Malware Traffic Analysis training course at Black Hat every year. She has also served on the Black Hat Review Board in various roles since 2016.
